Joanne Hastie is an emerging Canadian Artist currently residing in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. Joanne uses acrylic paint on canvas. She uses bright colours and distinctive brush strokes that capture Canadian landscapes and cityscapes. With no formal art training, her style is unique to her and is noticeably developing with each painting.

Joanne is also an engineer graduating in 2006 from the University of Waterloo (Waterloo, Ontario) with a BASc in Mechanical Engineering. She finds both art and engineering similar as they both involve extensive design and creativity. Joanne loves to mountain bike (cross country and downhill), which can be seen in her artwork with her favorite painting subject being the trails and scenic views of BC that are only accessible by 2 wheels.
|
Joanne has started painting seriously since summer of 2006 when an art fair in Sun Peaks, British Columbia resulted in her work being put in the Tree Line Studios in Sun Peaks, BC. Since then she has sold close to 100 paintings and her work has been seen in the BC Wildlife Park, Clarus Galleries in Toronto, Starbucks in Vancouver and has been purchased by art enthusiasts throughout North America.
|
Since graduating from Waterloo she has lived in Kamloops BC, Vancouver BC, Ottawa, ON, and now New Westminster, BC. She was also fortunate to do THREE cross Canada road trips since 2006 and have season’s passes for biking to Sun Peaks and Whistler, all of which have inspired numerous paintings of Canada. This year she was commissioned to do the 2008 BC Ice Wine Festival Artwork.

Joanne is excited to see where her career as an artist takes her next…
